Blogging - why?

Having spent some time trying to set up my first ever blog post (at the age of 73) I find most of my efforts have failed or somehow disappeared into a 'black hole'.  So it reinforces my need to write my first post about the value of blogs and how people waste so much time setting themselves up and then reading and creating them.  I can see some value in social media in that the population has an opportunity to express opinion widely - but at some cost in wasted time and productivity.  Anyway I'll persist with this. An old dog needs to learn a few new tricks and I do have some spare time these days.  Maybe posting this first blog will make my previous efforts reappear.  Here goes.  We'll see how occasional these posts are!!
